Grid Tied systems are the most common type of system installed in
California. Over 10,000 Californian households installed 'grid tied'
solar electric systems last year.
A solar electric 'grid tied' system is connected to the power grid. This
allows your system to feed power back into the grid when your system
produces more power than you are using (spinning your meter backwards).
The grid also provides power when your system produces less power than
you use (i.e.. night time).
The system consists of solar panels connected to an inverter ( which
converts the power produced by your panels into usable electricity for
your home.
Photovoltaic’s is the process of converting sunlight into electricity.
Silicon is used to facilitate this process. The electricity produced by
the solar panels is DC (Direct Current) this is then converted to AC
(Alternating Current) by the Inverter.
